US SENATE CANDIDATE JOE CARVIN
ENDORSED BY WESTCHESTER COUNTY REPUBLICANS
“Carvin is the Most Electable Candidate in the GOP Field”
Westchester County-March 12…Businessman Joe Carvin (R), who is seeking to challenge incumbent liberal U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-WFP) in November, was formally endorsed today in his race by the Westchester County Republican Party (5.3% of State GOP delegate vote.)
Westchester County, where Mr. Carvin serves as the Rye Town Supervisor, is considered a must-win county in statewide political races. The home county to Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) and former President Bill Clinton (D) and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (D) has a significant Democratic to Republican enrollment advantage, but it has been electing Republicans, including a Republican County Executive, in recent years as the state’s fiscal crisis continues.
“Joe Carvin the most electable statewide candidate in the Republican field and Westchester County overwhelmingly endorses his candidacy,” said Westchester County Republican Chairman Doug Colety. “Joe brings unique tools to this race – 30 years of businesses experience, international financial knowledge, rock solid conservative credentials as a Town Supervisor, and the ability to communicate with New York voters in five languages. But more than that, Joe Carvin brings a laser focus on the issues that matter most to this electorate: job growth and long-term economic development in this country.”
Mr. Carvin, 57, an agricultural investor, holds a B.A. from Tulane University; a M.B.A from New York University, and a M.P.A. from Harvard University. He has lived and worked on five continents. As Town Supervisor of Rye – where he accepts no salary – Mr. Carvin cut spending approximately 25% to reduce the tax load.
“It means the world to me that the Westchester Republicans could be the first county committee to endorse me, and I am enormously grateful to Chairman Colety for his strong support,” Mr. Carvin said. “The career politicians in Washington have badly failed us and it is time for regular citizens with serious financial skillsets to step forward to get this country back on track. As a United States Senator I will work day and night to grow jobs, reduce our national debt, and return this nation to long-term fiscal stability.”
