GILLIBRAND MISLEADS NEW YORKERS ON SENATE WEBSITE
Suggests Stagnant Jobs Bill Has Passed

New York’s junior senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-WFP), who has never passed a bill in the Senate — nor voted on a budget — is intentionally misleading upstate New Yorkers to believe that she has passed legislation to create jobs in struggling New York communities, the campaign of Congressman and U.S. Senate candidate Bob Turner (R-NY-17) today charged.
Senator Gillibrand’s official government website makes the following claims about a bill that has never left committee:
The Upstate Works Act provides new access to capital for businesses to grow and create jobs, retools New York’s manufacturers to produce clean domestic energy, provides tax credits for family farms to diversity and expand their production, invests in worker training to prepare students and working adults for the jobs of the future, and helps connect Upstate businesses with new markets by expanding broadband to every corner of New York.
“The language on Ms. Gillibrand’s website is a cruel joke to millions of Upstate New Yorkers who have been given empty promise after empty promise on job creation measures that never materialize,” said Turner campaign spokeswoman Jessica Proud. “Ms. Gillibrand is blatantly claiming credit for accomplishments that never occurred. It is disturbing that Ms. Gillibrand would intentionally mislead struggling New Yorkers about a matter as serious as jobs.”
The Turner campaign called upon Ms. Gillibrand to apologize to the thousands of New Yorkers who were mislead by the language on her website.
“Senator Gillibrand has mislead a lot of New Yorkers with this claim,” Ms. Proud continued. “The misleading language should be immediately removed and an apology to New Yorkers should be forthcoming.”
